Application certificate

For identification, electronic signature and encryption of data and communications by an application.

What it consists of and what it is used for

A digital certificate is an electronic credential that allows secure identification, electronic signature and, in this case, can also be used for encryption.

When we talk about Application certificates we refer to certificates that will identify and be used by an application or software development. Precisely for those purposes we have mentioned.

In other words, just as people identify themselves and sign electronically with digital certificates, so can applications.

They are issued with a default validity of 12 or 24 months.

What are the benefits for you?

  • Authorship or willfulness in the actions of an application
  • Confidentiality of information manipulated by an application.
  • Secure identification of an application

How to request the certificate

  1. Access NPSC

You must access the Non-Personal Certification Services (NPSC) area, identifying yourself with a digital certificate accepted by @firma. If you have doubts, you can verify your certificate’s validity on the VALIDE platform.

  1. Register

If this is your first time accessing, you will need to complete a registration form, provide the required documentation, and wait for our response. If the organization is already registered in NPSC and you access with a representative certificate, the system will automatically register you as a user without requiring additional documentation. If you have accessed with a representative certificate and the organization is not registered, you only need to include the CIF in the form, without having to provide documentation proving user permissions.

  1. Request the certificate

Complete the request form with the certificate details and accept the budget (after completing the request, you will receive a copy of it via email). Remember that if more than 13 months have passed since you provided the necessary documentation, you will need to submit it again. However, if you access with a representative certificate, you will only be asked for the organization’s CIF, without needing to renew the user documentation.

  1. Download the certificate

Once the request is approved, we will notify you by email. From that moment on, whether you requested the certificate or are a user with administrator privileges, you can access NPSC and generate the certificate. If any documentation has expired or has been rejected, you will be asked to provide it again before generating the certificate. Remember that if you access with a representative certificate, user documentation will not be required.

  1. Save a copy of the certificate

Save the downloaded file in a safe place. Remember, you will need it, along with the PIN you set, each time you wish to install the certificate. For security reasons, ACCV does not have access to either of them, so losing them will require a new request and bearing its cost.

  1. Install the certificate

Once generated, you can install the new certificate wherever you need it. As with any other certificate, the process may vary depending on the type of server and/or system, and it is your responsibility to complete it.

  1. Make the payment

After generating the certificate, you will receive the invoice along with the necessary information for payment.

DOWNLOAD MANUAL

Who can apply for this type of certificate

They are only offered to public or private legal entities, and are not available to individuals.

For the application you need a personal digital certificate accepted by @firma that identifies you.

How to use the application certificate

Like any other certificate, once downloaded, you will have to install it so that the application for which you obtained it can use it. Depending on the application server and/or application this process is different, and it is up to you.

Remember to keep a security copy of the certificate and associated cryptographic keys. With the download only you have this set. And its loss will result in the request for a new one.

Information that could be useful

These are some of the most common questions we receive. If you do not find an answer to your question, contact us.

How much does it cost?

The price of this certificate varies depending on whether you request it for 1, 2 or 3 years.

The concrete value you will be able to see in the budget that will be sent to you during the request process. If you cannot wait or you need this value before, write to gestioncerts@accv.es with the data of your entity and the certificate you want, so we can inform you.

How long does it take to obtain the certificate?

As you know, the application process requires action on your part and ours.

On our side we attend the requests in order of entry, always as quickly as possible. Although we cannot give an exact deadline, if your answers are also fast, you can get the certificate from a few hours to around 72 hours usually.

In what format can I download the certificate?

There are different ways to download the certificate, but the default and recommended process is to download it in .p12 format (PKCS#12). This is the most common and accepted format.

How do I renew my certificate?

The renewal actually consists of a new application with the same data as the expiring certificate.

The expiring certificate is not initially revoked. When you have downloaded the new certificate that replaces it, you will have to change it where you have it installed and then revoke the old one from the area for the management of non-personal certificates (NPSC).

I don’t remember my certificate PIN. What do I do?

The PIN or password of a certificate is defined by the person who downloads it at that moment.

As the custodian of this certificate only that person should know that PIN. We do not have access to it at any time and cannot help you retrieve it. It is a security measure.

If you do not remember the PIN of your certificate, you do not have access to it and you need it, we regret to tell you that you can only order a new certificate from scratch and pay its cost.

How do I know the serial number of my certificate?

The serial number is a number that appears on the certificate. You can, for example, install your certificate in your Operating System’s homepage and look it up from there. This is the easiest way.

I cannot access JOC-ER/Prohibits after renewing.

The renewal of the certificate involves obtaining a new one with the same data, but with a different serial number.

You must verify that you have registered the new serial number in JOC-ER/Prohibits.

I have lost my certificate or I think it has been compromised.

You will have to revoke it from the area for the management of non-personal certificates (NPSC). From that moment on, the certificate is cancelled and can no longer be used.

Remember that revocation is irreversible. Once revoked, you must request a new certificate if you need an active one.
