What is the Citizen’s Certificate?

It is a digital accreditation that can be used to securely identify and express will, consent or authorship. Just as we would in the real world using our handwritten signature and legal documents, but by electronic means.

Specifically, Citizen Certificates identify a natural person, whether as a citizen or as a self-employed person. It contains first name, last name, NIF / NIE and email.

It is valid for 30 months.

What is the Citizen Certificate for?

With this type of certificate you can identify yourself and sign in digital environments in your name, either as a natural person or as a freelancer. You can also encrypt the messages in the email account that you associate with your certificate, if your client allows it.

What are the steps for video identification?

To obtain your certificate via video ID follow the steps in this manual.

What are the steps to get it in software support?

Identify yourself in your PRU and receive your Generation Code at your mobile. Download the certificate and install it according to the manuals. If you have an e-ID card or personal certificate from the ACCV on your card, you can obtain the certificate in software through the your personal area (APSC).

You can also identify yourself by video, without having to travel, but this service will have an associated cost.

How much does it cost?

Citizen certificate in support software is free , if you obtain it at a user register point. The price for obtaining the certificate on software support through the video identification is € 6. The certificate in card support costs € 31.35 (VAT and shipping included).

Payment methods

If you need to purchase a Citizen’s certificate, either in software support by video identification or in card support, payment is made exclusively by credit/debit card. If you need a card reader, this is also possible.

How long does it take to the ACCV to resolve my application?

Your application for a citizen’s certificate by video identification will be processed by us within 5 working days.

The request for a card certificate will be processed within a maximum of 15 working days.

What is the maximum time limit I have to complete the video identification?

After payment you have 30 calendar days to complete the video identification. If after this time you have not been video identified, your request will be cancelled and your money will be refunded.

How do I download the certificate in software support?

You’ll get your alphanumeric 10-character Generation Code after identifying yourself in person at your nearest PRU, or if you have identified yourself by video and your request has been resolved favourably.

This code will be sent to you by SMS and it will expire within 15 calendar days of obtaining it. Use it as soon as possible to download your certificate. For download, see oursmanuals and guides.

I have paid for the video ID and have not received the certificate.

The issuing of the certificate by video identification is not instantaneous.

Our operators must verify your application and approve it. When this happens you will receive the resolution to your phone number and email.

My application has been rejected.

We are sorry. If your request has been rejected, it is because we have not been able to verify your identity or the details you have provided do not match.

Unfortunately, this means that you cannot get your money back and will have to pay for a new application, should you need it.

What is the generation code?

It is sent to you by SMS after identifying yourself, either at the PRU or by video. It has 10 characters and is case sensitive. It is used to download your certificate securely from generation front-end. Don’t neglect it, because it expires in 15 days.

My generation code has expired.

We are sorry. If you obtained it at a registration point, you will have to re-identify yourself in person to request a new code.

If you obtained it by video identification, you will have to pay a new process to obtain a new code.

The previous one cannot be reactivated, as it is an irreversible security measure. Likewise, you will not be reimbursed for the amount of the previous video identification.

I do not receive the SMS with generation code after video identify myself.

Please return to the video identification portal. Enter your NIF/NIE and, if you have an active request pending completion, you will have the option to resend the data for generation.

I get an error when downloading the certificate.

The only solution is to obtain a new certificate. If you do it by video ID you will have to go through the process from scratch, and pay the fee. The previous application will not be refunded.

What steps do you need to take to get card support?

You must purchase it through this web. In a few days you will receive an empty card and you only have to go to one PRU to activate it. Remember to install it on your computer when it is already active.

How do I install my card certificate?

We will send you the empty card and the holder must go to one Registration Point (PRU), to load the certificate on it. Once loaded, follow ours manuals of installation.

*How do you identify in PRU?

The main documents that allow you to identify yourself are a DNI, NIE, a Spanish driving license or a valid Spanish passport. If your case is different, please read the information in this document.

I can’t go to the PRU. What do I do?

you can video-identify yourself, although there is an associated cost for this service.

Also, another person may appear on your behalf if you provide a power of attorney or a specific clause in a power of attorney, which expressly authorizes the third party to obtain the digital certificate in your name. The third party must provide your personal information and accept the terms of the contract on your behalf. You have a clause template here.

My certificate will expire. How do I renew it?

The first time you get it in person, you can renew it from your personal area (APSC), before it expires.

If you have already expired, or were last renewed by APSC, you must renew in person at a PRU.

I want to cancel my certificate. How do I revoke it?

You can cancel your certificate by calling us at 963 866 014. Or use another of the options described on this page. Remember, revocation cannot be undone.
